QUOTED ON SCOPE

On the call

Agreed before we start and outside your monthly fee, because the size of the job depends on the state of the year.

You are probably here because one of these is true.

Your filer keeps asking for things and you do not know where to find them.
Last year end dragged on for months and you never found out why.
You have changed accountant and the new one wants prior year support.
A lender or an investor has asked for comparatives you cannot produce.
You want the filing done early for once, rather than at the deadline.
Nobody has closed the year properly and the deadline is moving closer.

Which version you need.

What the pack contains does not change much. What changes is how much closing work has to happen before it can be assembled.

THE YEAR WAS ON OUR BOOKS

FIRST YEAR WITH US

Pack with prior year work

  • Prior books reviewed first
  • Any cleanup scoped and quoted separately
  • Then the standard or group pack

Depends on what the review finds

What is in, and what is not.

Included in every pack

  • A trial balance reconciled and signed off
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations for the final period
  • Supporting schedules: fixed assets, accruals, prepayments, loans
  • Receivables and payables ageing as at year end
  • Inventory valuation and COGS support where the business holds stock
  • A schedule of anything unresolved, with what we recommend
  • The accounting file itself, in a state your filer can work in
  • Direct handling of your filer’s follow-up questions

Not included

  • Filing the return. That is your practitioner’s work and we would not take it on
  • Tax computations, adjustments and elections. We prepare the accounting position, they prepare the tax one
  • Advice on tax positions or planning. We will tell you when a question is one for them
  • An audit opinion. If an audit is coming, audit preparation is the service you want
  • Cleaning up a year nobody kept properly. That is cleanup, and it comes first
HOW IT RUNS

Five stages, and your filer is involved from the start.

We ask your practitioner what they want before we assemble anything, because a pack built to a generic checklist creates the follow-up questions it was meant to prevent.

What you have at the end.

Named artefacts, not adjectives. Everything below is something you can open, forward or hand to a third party.

A reconciled trial balanceSigned off, with every account tied to something that supports it.
The supporting schedulesFixed assets, accruals, prepayments, loans, ageing, inventory where relevant.
Comparative statementsP&L and balance sheet on a basis consistent with the prior year.
A query list, closed outAnything unresolved, what we recommended and what you decided.

Their questions answeredWe deal with the follow-ups rather than routing them back to you.

WHO DOES THIS WORK

A named senior accountant

ACCA-qualified · Bookkeeping department · Reviewed by Quality Assurance

The pack is assembled by an ACCA-qualified senior accountant and checked independently by quality assurance before it reaches you or your filer. Three layers work each engagement, so cover holds through the year-end peak.

WHAT IT COSTS

Quoted on scope, outside your monthly fee.

A clean year on one entity is a short job. A first year with us, on books nobody has closed, is not. Company policy is that year-end packs are quoted and agreed before work starts, and never absorbed into a monthly fee without you knowing.

Price your ongoing bookkeeping instead
Whether the year was on our booksA year we kept is faster to close than a year we inherit.
The state of the prior yearIf opening balances are unverified, the review comes first.
Entities and currenciesEach entity closes separately, and translation adds workings.
InventoryValuation and COGS support is real work and not every business needs it.
What your filer asks forRequest lists vary widely, and so does the assembly time.

Questions we get asked.

Income tax, no. Your CPA or tax preparer files those. What we do is keep your books tax-ready all year, so at year end they get a clean pack and can file fast. If you do not have a practitioner, we can introduce you to one we work with.

Then we review the prior books first, because we cannot assemble a pack on a position nobody has verified. If the review shows work is needed, that is cleanup and it is quoted separately. You get both numbers before you decide.

Yes, and it is usually faster. We handle their request list and their follow-up questions ourselves rather than routing everything back through you. You stay copied on anything that needs a decision.

We answer them. The pack is not finished when it is delivered, it is finished when your filer has what they need. That is included rather than billed as an extra.

The accounting work does not change by jurisdiction, and we support clients across North America, Europe and Asia. What changes is what the local practitioner asks for, which is why stage one is asking them rather than assuming.

No. A year-end pack is built for the person filing your return. Audit preparation is built for an external auditor working to their own request list and sampling approach. If both are happening, tell us on the call and we will scope them together.

WHAT USUALLY HAPPENS NEXT

Year end is easier when the year was kept properly.

Most of the work in a year-end pack is work that should already have happened. Clients who close monthly find this a short job.
